WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME

From SMOOVE & JUICY COVERS
Written by David Foster, Tom Keane & Richard Baskin

David Foster with Peter Cetera co-wrote some giant Chicago hits like “Hard To Say I’m Sorry” and “You’re The Inspiration.” After the 1986 departure of Chicago ’s former lead singer/songwriter/bassist, their first top five hit was “Will You Still Love Me. ” Foster would co-pen this tune with his frequent collaborator Tom Keane. Back in the seventies, Keane was half of the successful teen duo, The Keane Brothers. Keane would go on to build a solid career in the eighties as a songwriter and producer by working with several music stars when he hooked up again with Foster.

YO MAMA

From SINGLE
Written by Bill Champlin

“Yo Mama” was a smoking, funk jam written by legendary Bill Champlin for his first solo album, Single. Released in 1978 and produced by a young but already gifted David Foster, Single was a sophisticated pop/R&B affair that was pretty close to the blue-eyed territories of Boz Scaggs’ 1976 seminal Silk Degrees. “Yo Mama,” with its rock-solid groove and muscular arrangement, was one of the highlights on Champlin’s album. This R&B mid-tempo sports a soulful atmosphere and a catchy, energetic refrain reflective of the glorious sounds of Sons Of Champlin and other big acts like The Commodores or Tower Of Power .

ONCE UPON LOVE

From BEYOND
Written by David Foster & William Joseph

At the dawn of the new millennium, David Foster took Josh Groban and Michael Bublé under his wing and brought them to international stardom. A couple of years later, Foster applied the same path to another new name in the industry, William Joseph. In Foster’s mind, the skilled composer and piano player was destined to fill the instrumental pop slot occupied through the years by household names like Kenny G. and Yanni. Although Joseph didn’t generate high sales, he quickly built a solid reputation as one of the best piano artists in the classical crossover field. Joseph’s style was a clever mix of his classical origins with some world music influences and a powerful cinematic atmosphere. Joseph’s cds, Within and Beyond, were supervised by Foster in 2004 and 2008 respectfully.

LIBERDADE

From LILAS
Written by Djavan

When a beautiful melody was put in the capable hands of David Foster, the result was a work of art. “Liberdade” was such a ballad. Written by Djavan, one of Brazil ’s most revered musical minds, “Liberdade” (that translates to freedom, liberty or independence in English) was recorded in 1984 for Djavan’s Lilas album. Foster was a key figure on Lilas along with top sidemen Greg Phillinganes, Nathan East, Mike Landau, Jerry Hey and John Robinson.
