THE LAST GOODBYE

from THE LAST GOODBYE (single)

written by Chris Christian & J.C. Crowley

From time to time, an unknown goodie resurfaces thanks to the hard work of David Foster’s compilers. They are always hunting for rare stuff from The Hitman’s illustrious career. So was the case with Chris Christian’s 1982 obscure single, “The Last Goodbye.”

GIVE THE LITTLE GIRL A CHANCE

from FLOWER

written by Jesse Cutler

Cheryl Lynn Flor was one of the many young singers who jumped on the disco/pop bandwagon in the second half of the seventies. After a promising start as a model in California , Flor entered the music world with the stage name of Flower. She scored a contract with United Artists Records and released her self-titled debut album around 1977. Given its twinkly cover, Flower could have easily been mistaken as another mild disco release. Although disco elements were included, so were moments of traditional pop and smooth soul that were delivered with superior class thanks to the terrific work of arranger supreme, the late Nick DeCaro (June 23, 1938 to March 4, 1992).

DON’T EVER SAY GOODBYE

Written by David Foster, Paul Anka & David Wolfert

The romantic ballad “Don’t Ever Say Goodbye” was one of the first collaborations by veteran singing star Paul Anka with a young and supremely gifted David Foster. “Don’t Ever Say Goodbye” was originally included on Anka’s 1978 album, Listen To Your Heart. The song also bore the signature of David Wolfert who produced Listen To Your Heart along the lines of the most sophisticated easy listening of the late seventies. One of the most sought-after music-makers of the genre, Wolfert wrote, arranged and produced significant stuff for the likes of Barbra Streisand, Melissa Manchester, Dusty Springfield, Dolly Parton and Cher .
