INSIDE YOU

From RIVER OF LOVE
Written by David Foster, Tom Keane & Will Jennings

December 1990 saw the release of River Of Love, David Foster’s fourth solo album. After delivering three beautiful, mostly instrumental solo records, the multi-Grammy winning music-maker formulated a Quincy Jones kind of project. Foster recorded a collection of original songs crafted in his catchy pop/rock style supported by an impressive cast of guest singers and players. Listening to River Of Love today, it feels like Foster wanted to give his devoted fans a compendium of the first successful phase of his career.

BEAUTIFUL BOY

Celine Dion’s song “Beautiful Boy” was another tasty result of her fruitful collaboration with David Foster. “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” was written by the late, legendary John Lennon and included on his now-classic 1980 album “Double Fantasy.” The former Beatle wrote the song’s sweet, loving lyrics for his son Sean and they perfectly fit the concept of Dion’s “Miracle” cd.

MAKING OUR DREAMS COME TRUE (THEME FROM “LAVERNE & SHIRLEY”)

from MAKING OUR DREAMS COME TRUE

Written by Charles Fox & Norman Gimbel

In the second half of the seventies, David Foster’s keyboard playing became a fixture on hit records by superstars including George Harrison, Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand and Rod Stewart. Although the list of artists he played for was impressive, the future Hitman could also be found tickling the ivories on  quite a few pop guilty pleasures. For example, Foster played keys on a string of TV theme songs written by his friend and compatriot Alan Thicke including “The Wheel Of Fortune” and “The Joker’s Wild.”

HEAVEN HOLDS THE ONES I LOVE

 from ONE VOICE

Written by David Foster & Linda Thompson

For over twenty years, Nita Whitaker has been a fixture on many David Foster projects. This talented pop/r&b songstress began her career in the second half of the eighties with an appearance on the popular TV show Star Search. Winning the talent show and the subsequent grand championship, Whitaker was soon noticed by Foster and she flourished under his expert wing. In the early nineties, Whitaker worked with the Canadian Hitmaker as part of the vocal group Millennium which included the late, unforgettable Warren Wiebe, Wil Wheaton, Joey Diggs and Suzette Charles.

THE CLOSEST THING TO HEAVEN

from THE CLOSEST THING TO HEAVEN (single)

Written by Diane Warren

When you find a song written by the hit-making pen of Diane Warren, crafted by super-producer David Foster and delivered by the legendary voice of Lionel Richie, good chances are that you are thrown into an elegant adult contemporary heaven. This was the case with “The Closest Thing To Heaven,” a sweet ballad included on the former Commodores singer’s 1998 cd “Time.” “The Closest Thing To Heaven” was a love song that reaffirmed Warren ’s uncommon ability to pair a gorgeous, catchy melody with an irresistible hook that was stuck in your mind the moment you hear it for the first time.
