“Through The Fire” is another bright jewel in David Foster’s songbook. This intense love song was co-written by Foster and frequent collaborator Tom Keane with lyrics by the renowned Cynthia Weil. The song was released as the third single from Chaka Khan’s cornerstone album, “I Feel For You,” and became a 1985 multi-format hit reaching #60 on Billboard’s Hot 100, #15 on the R&B chart and even crossed over to Adult Contemporary at #16. “Through The Fire” was so popular that it became one of Khan’s trademark songs and eventually became the title to the legendary R&B diva’s official biography.

Born Raymond Louis Kennedy, he had a long and respected career in the music business that goes back to early sixties. Kennedy could be heard  backing up legends like Otis Redding and Little Richard. He also played tenor saxophone alongside jazz greats including Gerry Mulligan, Dizzy Gillespie and Gene Krupa.
