IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR

from  I CAN’T STAND THE RAIN/IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR (single)
written by Steve Cropper & Wilson Pickett, Jr.

Produced by David Foster and co-produced by Jochem van der Saag, Seal’s 2008 “Soul” was a collection of contemporized covers of r&b classics and became a top seller in several countries worldwide. “Soul” was eventually certified gold in the US, platinum in the UK and diamond in France. The album was introduced to international audiences by the popular cover of Sam Cooke’s hit, “A Change Is Gonna Come” that ignited great interest in this new release. In the months that followed, several other singles from that cd made their appearances in the music charts of many different countries.

At the beginning of 2011 Seal and David Foster went back into the studio to work on the follow-up to their 2008 hit album, “Soul.” This time the focus was more on the soul classics of the Seventies.

A CHANGE IS GONNA COME

from SEAL : THE ACOUSTIC SESSION WITH DAVID FOSTER

written by Sam Cooke

A gorgeous rendition of  Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” was the first single off Seal’s 2008 “Soul” album. Produced and arranged by David Foster, “Soul” was a collection of some of the most important classics of the black music of the sixties and the seventies that quickly became an international hit.

BACK STABBERS

from  SOUL 2

written by Leon Huff, Gene Mcfadden & John Whitehead

November 2011 saw the release of  Seal’s new album entitled “Soul 2.” It seemed like an obvious choice after the huge success of its 2008 predecessor, “Soul” and the relative disappointment of “Commitment” in 2010. Both “Soul” and “Commitment” were perfectly produced by David Foster but the first included great covers of the most famous soul evergreens of the sixties and the seventies while the second was mostly made of intimate new songs co-written by the UK superstar. “Soul 2” presented another batch of soul classics but this time around the focus was more on the seventies.

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID

from COMMITMENT

written by Seal, David Foster & Mark Summerlin

After the big success of “Soul,” UK superstar Seal and super-producer David Foster reunited in 2010 for the follow-up album that was eventually titled “Commitment.” This new release included ten original songs co-written by Seal with just one cover, “You Get Me.” Seal’s fantastic voice dominates the scene here while Foster’s production is top notch.
