from COMMITMENT
written by Seal, David Foster & Mark Summerlin
After the big success of “Soul,” UK superstar Seal and super-producer David Foster reunited in 2010 for the follow-up album that was eventually titled “Commitment.” This new release included ten original songs co-written by Seal with just one cover, “You Get Me.” Seal’s fantastic voice dominates the scene here while Foster’s production is top notch.
Foster is musically respectful to support the singer with just a rhythm section, some keyboards, guitars and well-dosed orchestral arrangements. The material on “Commitment” presents catchy, danceable moments like the opening one-two punch of “If I’m Any Closer” and “Weight Of My Mistakes” plus another goodie entitled “Best Of Me” that remind the listener of Seal’s early dance hits. The core of the album is made of evocative ballads where Seal truly shines with the benefit of Foster’s unique work on the arrangements.
It’s difficult to pick a favorite among romantic gems like “All For Love,” “Silence,” “The Way I Lie” and the hit single “Secret.” There’s one song called “I Know What You Did” that’s a collaboration between Seal, his guitarist Mark Summerlin and Foster. Again, it’s a love song majestically sung by Seal while being supported by just Foster’s acoustic piano and delicate strings.
“Commitment” made the worldwide charts, but wasn’t a smash hit despite its high potential. We suggest you to check it out cause it’s one of Foster’s most interesting works of the new millennium.

Lyrics
You make me feel so dumb
Like always, there isn’t anyone else
But I know what you did, I know what you came for
Driving me insane you wait by my door
I didn’t know what to say
Like always I said it anyway
Said it anyway
It only seems like it was yesterday
So it ain’t all the way, all the way, yeah
You leave me now with even less to say
So it ain’t all the way
You always loved the sea
You never give me any reason to break away
But I know what you did, yes, I know what you came for
Driving me insane you wait by my door
I didn’t know what to say, yeah
Like always I, I said it anyway
I said it anyway
It only seems like it was yesterday
So it ain’t all the way, all the way, yeah
You leave me now with even less to say
So it ain’t all the way
The love from me you drained
I love you so if just to ease my pain
I know what you did, I know what you came for
Driving me insane you wait by my door.
