The summer of 1993 witnessed the release of “Back To Broadway,” Barbra Streisand’s 50thalbum for Columbia Records. As the title suggests, “Back To Broadway” was the superstar’s sequel to her 1985 multi-platinum milestone “The Broadway Album.” David Foster, who collected a Grammy for his stratospheric production of “Somewhere” on “The Broadway Album,” returned to the control room for “Back To Broadway.”

“Through The Fire” is another bright jewel in David Foster’s songbook. This intense love song was co-written by Foster and frequent collaborator Tom Keane with lyrics by the renowned Cynthia Weil. The song was released as the third single from Chaka Khan’s cornerstone album, “I Feel For You,” and became a 1985 multi-format hit reaching #60 on Billboard’s Hot 100, #15 on the R&B chart and even crossed over to Adult Contemporary at #16. “Through The Fire” was so popular that it became one of Khan’s trademark songs and eventually became the title to the legendary R&B diva’s official biography.
