“Talk To Ya Later” was the lead-off single from The Tubes’ 1981 “Completion Backward Principle” album. It’s a catchy rock’n’roll tune that quickly became a Top Ten hit on the Mainstream Rock chart. David Foster, who produced the album, co-wrote “Talk To Ya Later” with the band’s lead singer, Fee Waybill, and Toto axe-man Steve Lukather. Here’s what Waybill said about the recording with Goldmine magazine :

The Tubes wonderful power ballad, “Don’t Want To Wait Anymore,” was included on the band’s 1981 hit album, “The Completion Backward Principle.” That song became the Tubes’ first single to appear on Billboard’s Top 40 at #35 and it also made the Modern Rock chart at #22.

The collaboration with the Rock group The Tubes resulted in some of David Foster’s most challenging work to date. Foster, who is mostly known to worldwide audiences as the King of Power Ballads and one of the key figures of the Adult Contemporary genre, has also successfully demonstrate his versatility into other music styles like R&B, Funk, Classical and Rock.

In 1983, after the huge success of their previous album, “The Completion Backward Principle,” The Tubes released “Outside Inside,” another catchy offering again with David Foster at the helm. Foster, who was responsible for making the band’s sound more suitable for rock and pop radios, brought in many of his friends from Toto plus other session greats like Nathan East and, Freddy Washington to help raise the level of  musical sophistication in the Tubes sound.
