“Senza Fine” is one of the most important evergreens in the history of Italian popular music. Written by legendary singer/songwriter Gino Paoli, this astonishing composition was covered by a who’s who of international music stars including Ornella Vanoni who sang the original version in 1961, Dean Martin, Connie Francis, Boz Scaggs, Monica Mancini, Mike Patton of Faith No More, Claudio Baglioni and jazz legend Wes Montgomery. “Senza Fine” is also one of the classic love songs selected by Andrea Bocelli and David Foster for the singer’s 2013 cd Passione and is included in the Deluxe Edition of that gold-certified hit.
Foster, who produced and arranged the whole project, took a respectful approach to Gino Paoli’s timeless melody with the delicate instrumental back-up that supports Bocelli’s magnificent vocals. On “Senza Fine,” the beloved tenor didn’t just give his usual vocal showstopper, but amazed his aficionados with a remarkable performance on the accordion that deepens the French waltz feel of the tune. The Italian superstar beautifully sings some of the most touching lyrics ever written thus breathing new life into this immortal melody. The orchestral arrangement is courtesy of Foster and William Ross and their interpretation is exquisite just as Foster’s performance is on keyboards. Other names involved include Jochem van der Saag, Foster’s right-hand man who adds his exceptional, elegant touch to the sound, bassist extraordinaire Nathan East, supreme guitarist Ramon Stagnaro and the legendary John Robinson on drums. “Senza Fine” is one of those classic songs that transcend time and space. When you put such a treasure in the capable hands of world-class talents Andrea Bocelli and David Foster, the result can only be magical.
