From RIGHT ON TIME
Written by David Foster & Bill Champlin
Margriet Eshuijs is a veteran Dutch singer who enjoyed good success during her career with several hits on her homeland’s charts. In 1981, the singer released an interesting pop album entitled “Right On Time” as leader of the Margriet Eshuijs Band.
That record presented a few original songs like the big hit “Black Pearl,” co-written by her fellow band members Lex Bolderdijk and Peter Schon. It also included a few well selected covers from the most refined American songwriters. There’s a nice Steve Kipner original entitled “Why Should I Give It To You,” while “Beautiful Loser” comes from the songbook of the long forgotten band Lazy Racer. “Right On The Money (Right On Time)” is a rock song that was originally performed by actor/singer Tim Curry on his 1979 album “Fearless.” The final selection on “Right On Time” is a very interesting cover of “Keys To The Kingdom,” co-written by David Foster and Bill Champlin for Champlin’s 1978 solo record titled “Single.” The original Foster/Champlin arranged orchestral intro of “Keys To The Kingdom” and the epic progression of the composition are faithfully recreated by the Margriet Eshuijs Band. The vocals obviously can’t compare to Champlin’s soulful performance, but it’s such an interesting cover choice and the result is so pleasant that we’re sure it’ll be of great interest for quality pop fans.
It’s interesting to note that this coming March, Bill Champlin will perform “Keys To The Kingdom” and many other gems of his repertoire live in concert in Norway with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. That’s a must-go for both fans and music lovers.

Lyrics
Aside from all the changes
That we’ve had to share
Lovin’ rearranges
And teaches us to care
And despite our education
We can learn to let it go
And you know
That there’s nobody
Who loves you more
Than I do
Together can be trying
When you want to run
From feeling like crying
When you’re thinking love’s done
You can tell yourself it’s over
When you’re feeling kinda low
When you know
That there’s nobody
Who loves you more
Than I do
(chorus)
Love’s given us the
Keys to the kingdom
Freedom is you and me
Your lovin’ has brought me
Something to give them
Freedom is you and me
You and me
I just want to thank you
For what you’ve done for me
I just want to thank you
Cause you set me free
You’re my one and only lover
You’re the one I’m dreamin’ of
And you know
That there’s nobody
Who loves you more
Than I do
(Repeat Chorus)
Love’s given us the
Keys to the kingdom
Freedom is you and me
Your lovin’ has brought me
Something to give them
Freedom is you and me
Love’s given us the
Keys to the kingdom
Freedom is you and me
Your lovin’ has brought me
Something to give them
Freedom is you and me
