Bianca Ryan is the teen vocal phenomenon who, in 1995 when she was just 11 years old, won the first season of Simon Cowell’s produced show, “America’s Got Talent.”
During the show, Ryan performed outstanding renditions of classics like “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls and R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly” gaining immediate attention from the media and audiences alike. Eventually she was signed by Sony and in the fall of 2006 Ryan’s self-titled debut album hit the shelves. David Foster, Walter Afanasieff and Robbie Buchanan were among the producers involved in the project and their immense experience with stars like Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion resulted in a perfect musical setting for
the young singer’s impressive vocal performances. Her signature song, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from “America’s Got Talent” was included on the album together with other tailor made covers like Debby Boone’s “You Light Up My Life” and Bette Midler’s “The Rose.” Those evergreens gave the singer plenty of room to perform her powerful vocals, but “Bianca Ryan” also presented a number of fresh, original songs like the sweet up-tempo ballad “Pray For A Better Day.” Co-written by Foster with hit maker Kara DioGuardi, “Pray For A Better Day” is a beautiful R&B-influenced song whose melodic appeal is enhanced by Ryan’s versatile and tender vocal performance. Foster’s production is high-tech while the arrangement has a strong R&B flavor.
