Geoff Muldaur was a singer/songwriter and guitarist. Muldaur started his career in the Sixties with then-wife Maria Muldaur in the folk/blues combo, The Jim Kweskin Jug Band. In the early Seventies, Muldaur played with Paul Butterfield’s Better Days. On the side, Muldaur released a string of solo records, a couple with his wife Maria.

In the early eighties, one of the few, precious gems that David Foster and the great Jeremy Lubbock (1931-2021) co-wrote was “Whatever We Imagine”. The song was first recorded as an instrumental for Foster’s 1983 solo album that took its name, The Best Of Me, from another Foster/Lubbock classic. The Best Of Me was released in Japan by Sound Design Records. It included a string of mostly instrumental tunes that immediately bloomed into hits plus signature songs for stars including Chaka Khan, Boz Scaggs, Olivia Newton-John, Al Jarreau and Dionne Warwick. The Best Of Me was performed by Foster with minimal accompaniment on a few songs by friends comprised of Lubbock, hi old partner, Jay Graydon plus Tom and John Keane. The strength of the record was in the melodic beauty of the compositions, the superior performance of Foster on various keyboards and synths plus the excellent level of the arrangements.

All of Ms. McBride’s albums from 1993 to 2007 were certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum. She also reached the Top Ten of the Country charts with twenty singles, including five #1s with “Wild Angels,” “A Broken Wing,” “Wrong Again,” “I Love You” and “Blessed.” Ms. McBride co-produced most of these hit singles.

“Miss You” was a fantastic, disco-influenced anthem by the legendary Rolling Stones. Co-written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, “Miss You” was the first single released from the band’s 1978 Some Girls album. The song was an instant smash reaching #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and selling more than one million copies in the US alone. “Miss You” went to #3 on the UK Singles chart and became a huge worldwide hit.

Bill Champlin’s sophomore solo effort, Runaway, was released in 1981. David Foster was again in the producer’s seat. Together, the two friends crafted a well-dosed collection of pop/rock numbers and refined ballads. Despite its strong potential, Runaway didn’t do much on the charts with just a four week stay on the Billboard Top 200, eventually peaking at #178. The album spawned a couple of minor hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 with two gorgeous ballads, “Tonight, Tonight” and “Sara.” Both songs were perfectly arranged melodic masterpieces that deserved more attention given their radio-friendly appeal.
