“El Alma Al Aire: Edición Especial” is the 2001 re-release of Alejandro Sanz’s 2000 smash hit “El Alma Al Aire.” This special edition album is a double CD release. The first CD presents the original album, produced by the talented Emanuele Ruffinengo, that sold more than five million albums worldwide to date.
The second disc offers five new tracks. One of those new songs, a wonderful ballad entitled “Me Iré,” was produced by David Foster and it is also included in an English version entitled “The Hardest Day.” This tune is a special collaboration with the popular Irish group, The Corrs. Foster’s production on “The Hardest Day” matches beautifully Sanz’s intense latin style with The Corrs’ pure pop sounds and the result is a first class adult contemporary ballad. The vocal interplay between Andrea Corr and Sanz, under Foster’s guidance, is really impressive as is the refined arrangement and instrumental execution with a little Irish flavor given by The Corrs’ violin and tin whistle.
Among the other new cuts on “En Alma Al Aire: Special Edition” is another duet with “The Corrs” entitled “Una Noche” and also “Adoro,” a pairing with veteran Mexican singer, Armando Manzanero.
