We all know how fundamental David Foster has been in Celine Dion’s career, all the hits they have mined together, #1 songs like “Because You Loved Me” and “The Power Of Love”, but we tried to find a song to review that wasn’t one of the big hits and instead we looked for one of the lesser known pearls, a duet with Paul Anka that was released in 1998 as part of his “Body Of Work” cd. “It’s Hard To Say Goodbye” is an emotional ballad that has Foster all over it, a remarkable song that could have easily been a hit if released on one of Dion’s records. Anka confirms his rare talent as a songwriter and Foster brings the tune up to a higher level with his unmistakable arrangement and lu3h production. Celine’s vocals are, as usual, flawless with Anka doing quite a good job too; another nice element is Dean Parks beautiful work on the acoustic guitar.
“A Body Of Work” is really an interesting cd, perfect “adult contemporary” stuff that we suggest you to experience, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
