from HOUSE M.D. SOUNDTRACK
written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards
Band From TV is a pop/rock group that includes a line-up famous actors from hit television series who donate the proceeds of their recordings and live shows to various charities.Among the names involved in this project are James Denton from “Desperate Housewives,” Greg Grunberg from “Love Bites” and Hugh Laurie from “House.” In 2007, the group was contacted by Fox to contribute songs for the soundtrack of their hit TV show “House.” Laurie and company immediately went into the studio to record two songs under the supervision of David Foster. The tunes were a reggae-flavored cover of The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and a bluesy take of the Cab Calloway classic, “Minnie The Moocher.” Both songs made the soundtrack though “Minnie The Moocher” was only available as an iTunes exclusive. The rest of the soundtrack was a well conceived compilation of previously released material by the likes of Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachlan, Massive Attack and Joe Cocker. “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” is given a smart treatment with a catchy arrangement. Laurie, Denton and the others sing and play fairly well under Foster’s wise guidance that’s always a sure bet in terms of style and class. In 2008, after the good feedback received with these first songs, Band From TV released a whole cover album entitled “Hoggin’ All The Covers” that presented their take on classics like “You Really Got Me,” “Mustang Sally” and “Viva Las Vegas.”

Lyrics
I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she would meet her connection
At her feet was a footloose man
Now, you can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometime
You’ll find
You get what you need
I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was a footloose man
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometime
Well you might find
You get what you need
Oh yeah
All right baby
Yeah
And I went down to the demonstration
To get my fair share of abuse
Singing “We’re gonna vent our frustration
If we don’t we’re gonna blow a fifty amp fuse”
Sing it now
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometime
Well you just might find
You get what you need
Oh yeah
Hey baby
Yeah
I went down to the Chelsea drugstore
To get your prescription filled
I was standing in line with Mister Jimmy
And man, did he look pretty ill
Sing it now
We decided that we would have a soda
My favorite flavor, cherry red
I sang my song for Mister Jimmy
Yeah, and he said one word to me
And that was “dead”
I said to him
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometime
Well you just might find
You get what you need
All right
Yeah
I saw her today at the reception
In her glass was a bleeding man
She was practiced at the art of deception
I could tell by her bloodstained hands
Sing it now
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometime
Well you just might find
You get what you need
Oh yeah
All right
Yeah
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
Ah but if you try sometime
You just might find
You just might find uh find
That you get what you need
Oh yeah
All right
Oh baby
Oh baby
