Written by Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff

“You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” was Lou Rauls’ (1933-2006) biggest hit in his long and illustrious career. The late R&B star brought this smooth, dance song to fruition. “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” was co-written and produced by noted Philly soul hitmakers, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. This song went to the top of the R&B chart in 1976. That year, “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” was a multi-format hit, flying high on the Easy Listening chart, the Dance chart and Billboard’s Hot 100. Rawls was at the top of his game and his velvety baritone put his unforgettable print on the song. The single eventually sold over one million copies and was certified gold in the USA.

Many years later, this soulful composition was reworked by David Foster for Michael Bublè’s 2003 self-titled cd. The Hitman slowed down the tempo to fit with Bublè’s jazzy style and added lush orchestral magic and a sophisticated musical atmosphere. As usual, Foster crafted a killer traditional pop ballad.

In 2005, Bublè released his second live cd/dvd titled Caught In The Act. That live show was recorded at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles and was broadcasted on PBS as part of its Great Performance series. On that occasion, the young, Canadian star performed songs from his first two Warner Bros. cds. Bublè delivered a fantastic version of “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” as a duet with Italian global star, Laura Pausini.

The live version of “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” is the Song of the week.

The arrangement followed the one included on Michael Bublè and impeccably delivered by the singer’s stellar live band. This duet version was very appealing with the two singing sensations trading lines with warmth and class. Foster and his partner in crime, Humberto Gatica, produced this live rendition with their trademark bravura.

Caught In The Act was a smash hit. The album was certified in the US as four-times platinum with its video sales and sold like hotcakes worldwide. It was nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album” category.

To close this review, here are a few words that Foster applied to the recording:

“It was my idea to record ‘You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine’ with Michael. I loved Lou Rawls original and thought it was a smart move to cover it on Michael Bublè. When it was time to do the live show, I told Michael about Laura Pausini and the possibility to record a duet with her on that song. He checked her out and shared my enthusiasm. We both love Laura and her singing. A Real Star!”

Lyrics

You’ll never find, as long as you live
Someone who loves you tender like I do
You’ll never find, no matter where you search
Someone who cares about you the way I do

Whoa, I’m not braggin’ on myself, baby
But I’m the one who loves you
And there’s no one else!
No one else!

You’ll never find, it’ll take the end of all time
Someone to understand you like I do
You’ll never find the rhythm, the rhyme
All the magic we shared, just us two

Whoa, I’m not tryin’ to make you stay, baby
But I know some how, some day, some way
You are (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss my lovin’ (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss my lovin’ (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my lo-o-ove

Late in the midnight hour, baby (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
When it’s cold outside (you’re gonna miss my lovin’)
You’re gonna miss, you’re gonna miss my lo-o-ove

You’ll never find (You’ll never find)
Another love like mine (another love like mine)
Someone who needs you like I do

Sure baby?

I’m not braggin’ on myself, baby
But I’m the one who loves you
And there’s no one else!
No one else!

There’s just no one else!
Vo one else!

You’re gonna miss my love
I’m gonna miss your love
You’re gonna miss my love
You’re gonna miss my love

Laura Pausini is Italian, a Grammy winner and an international superstar whose records have sold a whopping forty-five million worldwide. Other than in her home country, Pausini is especially popular in many parts of Europe and Latin America. She sings in Italian, of course, but also perfectly in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English. Thanks to her powerful and flexible voice, this gifted singer has won the attention of big names like Michael Bublè, the late Ray Charles and Luciano Pavarotti, Barbra Streisand, Andrea Bocelli and David Foster.

Pausini got her first big break in English when she was produced by Foster on the 1999 song, “One More Time” for the soundtrack of “Message In A Bottle” starring Kevin Costner, Robin Wright and Paul Newman. Pausini recently stated that working with Foster was an immense thrill. They recorded the song in Los Angeles with some of the best musicians, arrangers and engineers in the business. “One More Time” is an emotional, bittersweet ballad that came from Richard Marx’s fantastic songbook. It presented all the melodic power of the veteran singer/songwriter’s timeless hits like “Now And Forever” and “Right Here Waiting.” The Chicago-born pop/rock star also gave his own interpretation of the song on the “Days In Avalon” cd. Foster produced Pausini’s version with his expert and refined touch. He surrounded the singer’s golden voice with a lush orchestra conducted by the famed William Ross and gave the tune his irresistible adult contemporary spin. Foster himself was on keyboards with Dean Parks dancing around the singer with his gorgeous acoustic guitar playing. “One More Time” was a perfect introduction for the singer to the North American market with its Celine Dion-like adult pop atmosphere. Yet, her subsequent US releases were a bit off target and didn’t bring the exceptional singer the popularity her talent deserves. “One More Time” was recently included in Pausini’s 2013 cd, “20 – The Greatest Hits.” It had many of her best hits, rarities and special duets with guests like Kylie Minogue, Marc Anthony, Alejandro Sanz, and Bocelli. “20 – The Greatest Hits” included a Foster produced Bublè live duet of “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine.” As usual with Pausini’s releases, this new cd became a bestseller and charted in the Top Ten of countless countries.

Lyrics

Nothing I must do
Nowhere I should be
No one in my life
To answer to but me

No more candlelight
No more purple skies
No one to be near
As my heart slowly dies

If I could hold you one more time
Like in the days when you where mine
I’d look at you ’till I was blind
So you would stay

I’d say a prayer each time you’d smile
Cradle the moments like a child
I’d stop the world if only I
Could hold you one more time
(Hmmmmmm)

I’ve memorized your face
I know your touch by heart
Still lost in your embrace
I’d dream of where you are
(Music break)
(Hmmm)

If I could hold you one more time
Like in the days when you were mine
I’d look at you ’till I was blind
So you would stay

I’d say a prayer each time you’d smile
Cradle the moments like a child
I’d stop the world if only I
Could hold you one more time
One more time
