written by Alan Gorrie

“Let’s Go Round Again” is one of the most successful singles in Average White Band’s career. Produced in 1980 by David Foster, this dance anthem was a Top Forty R&B hit in the US and went as high as #12 on the UK charts.

Through the years, “Let’s Go Round Again” has become one of the most requested songs at AWB concerts, second only to their giant hit, “Pick Up The Pieces.” The smooth ballad, “If Love Only Lasts For One Night,” was another fantastic Foster production. It can be found on the b-side of Let’s Go Round Again.”

“If Love Only Lasts For One Night” was written and sung by AWB’s main man, Alan Gorrie. It was a gorgeous song that showcases the Scottish funksters’ superior musicianship with the masterful production by the then up’n’coming Canadian music-maker. “If Love Only Lasts For One Night” has a to-die-for instrumental arrangement. Foster based his arrangement on his trademark piano and keyboards, soothing strings and smooth horns to back-up Gorrie’s tender lead vocal. A gorgeous saxophone solo by Roger Ball also went into play while Hamish Stuart’s impeccable vocal harmonies and a tempo change towards the end embellish this refined track.

Both “Let’s Go Round Again” and “If Love Only Lasts For One Night” belong to AWB’s vastly underrated album, “Shine.” Produced by Foster, “Shine” might lacked some of AWB’s rawer funk moments, but it gave the group a top quality pop/soul sound that brought them closer to the best Earth, Wind & Fire and Doobie Brothers sounds of the era.

Lyrics
Here we are,
You and I together for the first time
– though heaven knows, I’ve wanted you
And I guess you knew but we just
Never said,
Or never had the chance
And if love only lasts for one night
That would still be all right

If love only lasts for one night
We’ve got the morning to remember –
And decide
That if love only lasts for one night
We will have something
We always wanted to try

Holding you,
Seems like this is what the night
Was made for
– though who can say what lies ahead
Will this flame that flickers in
The darkness
Survive the light of day

And if love only lasts for one night, we
Got the morning, oh-ooh
If love only lasts for tonight
If love only lasts for on night, we
Will remember, oh yeah
If love only lasts for tonight

written by David Foster, Andrea Bocelli & Amy Foster

“Ama Credi E Vai,” also known as “Because We Believe,” is a powerful, operatic song co-written by international superstar Andrea Bocelli with super-producer David Foster. The English lyrics were written by Foster’s daughter Amy.

The song was originally included in Bocelli’s 2006 multi-platinum smash hit “Amore.” The Italian tenor also performed the song at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

“Because We Believe” was released as a single worldwide. To ignite interest, Bocelli’s voice was paired with two other famous European performers, Dutch singer Marco Borsato and Italian rock icon Gianna Nannini. These two singers helped bring the song to the Top Ten in several countries. The duet between Bocelli’s trademark tenor voice and Nannini’s rocking style works quite well, adding an interesting pop flavour to the classical-inspired tune. In Italy, “Ama Credi E Vai” was released on a four track cd-single. It had two versions of the Bocelli/Nannini duet and Bocelli’s solo version of “Because We Believe” from “Amore.” The fourth track was an instrumental version of the song that showcases Foster’s piano playing and the superb orchestral arrangement. “Because We Believe” was later covered by successful recording acts The Canadian Tenors and Celtic Thunder.

Lyrics

Guarda fuori gia’ mattina
questo e un giorno che ricorderai
alzati in fretta e vai
ce chi crede in te
non ti arrendere
il sole alto gia’ ti chiama
e qualcosa in te gia’ trema
metti le ali
al bambino che c’e in te
e lui correra’

ama credo e so
che per vincere tu dovrai vincere
ama credi e vai
e tutto quell’ attimo darai

guarda avanti e non voltarti mai
accarezza poi i sogni tuoi
le tue speranze e poi
verso il giorno che verra’
c’e un traguardo la

amo credo e so
che per vincere tu dovrai vincere
ama credi e vai
e tutto quell’ attimo volerai

non arrenderti qualcuno e con te

ama credi e vai
non voltarti mai
e per vincere
dovrai vincere
e allora vincerai.
