written by Alejandro Sanz

“El Alma Al Aire: Edición Especial” is the 2001 re-release of Alejandro Sanz’s 2000 smash hit “El Alma Al Aire.” This special edition album is a double CD release. The first CD presents  the original album, produced by the talented Emanuele Ruffinengo, that sold more than five million albums worldwide to date.

The second disc offers five new tracks. One of those new songs, a wonderful ballad entitled “Me Iré,” was produced by David Foster and it is also included in an English version entitled “The Hardest Day.” This tune is a special collaboration with the popular Irish group, The Corrs. Foster’s production on “The Hardest Day” matches beautifully Sanz’s intense latin style with The Corrs’ pure pop sounds and the result is a first class adult contemporary ballad. The vocal interplay between Andrea Corr and Sanz, under Foster’s guidance, is really impressive as is the refined arrangement and instrumental execution with a little Irish flavor given by The Corrs’ violin and tin whistle.
Among the other new cuts on “En Alma Al Aire: Special Edition” is another duet with “The Corrs” entitled “Una Noche” and also “Adoro,” a pairing with veteran Mexican singer, Armando Manzanero.

Lyrics

One more day, one last look
Before I leave it all behind
And play the role that’s meant for us
That said we’d say goodbye
One more night by your side
Where our dreams collide
And all we have is everything
And there’s no pain there’s no hurt
There’s no wrong it’s all right
If I promise to believe will you believe
That there’s nowhere that we’d rather be
Nowhere describes where we are
Ive no choice, I love you
Leave, love you wave goodbye
And all I ever wanted was to stay
And nothing in this worlds gonna change, change
Never wanna wake up from this night
Never wanna leave this moment
Waiting for you only, only you
Never gonna forget every single thing you do
When loving you is my finest hour
Leaving you, the hardest day of my life
The hardest day of my life
I still breathe, I still eat
And the sun it shines the same as it did yesterday
But there’s no warmth, no light
I feel empty inside
But I never will regret a single day
I know it isn’t going to go away
What I’m feeling for you
I will always love you
Leave, love you wave goodbye
And all, and all I ever wanted was to stay
Nothing in this world’s gonna change…
Never wanna wake up from this night
Never wanna leave this moment
Waiting for you only, only you
Never gonna forget every single thing you do
When loving you is my finest hour
I never knew I’d ever feel this way
I feel for you…
Never wanna wake up, I feel for you, from this night
Never wanna leave this moment
Wainting for you only, only you
Never gonna forget every single thing you do
When loving you is my finest hour
Leaving you, the hardest day of my life…
Never wanna wake up from this night

David Foster is one of the leading figures in show business for charity events. His own foundation, the David Foster Foundation, helps the families of children in need of organs transplants. He also offers his time for several other charitable events for people like Andre Agassi and Mohammed Ali. Through the years, hundreds of benefits have count on his musical talent and endless connections. In 2006, Foster supervised the “JC Penney Jam Concert For America’s Kids.” Held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the star studded event was filmed and subsequently released on CD/DVD. The varied line-up assembled by Foster included big names like Martina McBride, John Legend, Andrea Bocelli, Mary J. Blige, Alejandro Sanz, Chris Botti and many more. Every genre of music was in the spotlight including country, pop, R&B, Latin, jazz or rock. Foster, together with Humberto Gatica, produced the music performances with pristine and outstanding sound quality. As it always happens with Foster-directed concerts, the superstars were supported by an orchestra and house band comprised of the best players available. This event showcased some outstanding musicians including John Robinson on drums, Nathan East on bass, Paulinho Da Costa on percussions, Greg Phillinganes on keyboards, Dean Parks, Michael Thompson, Ramon Stagnaro on guitars plus Foster tickling the ivories to create the perfect music background.

All the performances were top notch, but there is a standout moment; “Corazon Partio” sung by Spanish star Alejandro Sanz. It’s a Latin jam with an irresistible hook, beautifully performed by the singer and supported by the tight backing band that features Stagnaro on nylon guitar and amazing horns.

Other outstanding moments include John Legend’s moving rendition of his hit, “Ordinary People,” Chris Botti and Renee Olstead performing “Pennies From Heaven,” and Andrea Bocelli with Katharine McPhee performing “Somos Novios.” It also includes Peter Cincotti performing “Be Careful” and Katharine McPhee singing her trademark song, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” The DVD of the concert is a visual and sonic pleasure.

Lyrics
