written by David Foster & Jon Anderson

British singer Jon Anderson is internationally known as the lead singer of the UK progressive super-group Yes. Anderson’s tenor voice is behind unforgettable rock songs like “Roundabout,” “Don’t Kill The Whale” and the 1983 #1 hit, “Owner Of A Lonely Heart.” The success of “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” brought Yes, and especially Anderson , back in the spotlight in the USA and probably lead to Anderson’s appearance on the 1985 original soundtrack of the hit movie “St. Elmo’s Fire.” David Foster was the mastermind of that soundtrack and co-wrote with Anderson a catchy, up-tempo number entitled “This Time It Was Really Right.” The song sports a noteworthy performance by Anderson who’s singing is close to Peter Cetera of Chicago. “This Time It Was Really Right” was arranged by Foster who embellished the tune with tight horns, guitars and keyboards that’s pretty close in style to his successful work with Chicago.

In 1988 after this first solo experiment in the world of quality pop, Anderson released a whole album recorded in LA with the guys from Toto and produced by Stewart Levine entitled “In The City Of Angels.” The single off the album, “Hold On To Love,” is another ear candy, upbeat pop gem that we suggest you to check out.

Lyrics

She said the words I waited for, in the middle of it
She knew she lied, she made by far, I can’t help but think
It’s something I can’t stop, there’s no point of letting go
I think about her every single second that I know
She’s touching my life, like no one ever did before

She said the words “come on, relax” (relax),
I can’t help but want her, it’s all this love I have inside
I just want her like the air that I breathe like the sun’ll shine the light
Forever in my heart, she’s forever in my life
We had to understand, we wanna be in love forever more

This time it was really right, the way you get together without a doubt
This time it was really right, I believe in our love and it got us high
Like the summer sun so hot, in my heart it feels so right
How can this be wrong? We love, we give it all we got
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…
(indistinctive gibberish words)

She said the words, the more we feel, I can’t help but want you
Your eyes, your body’s so unreal, how in heaven said
Your girl I give to love like the sun will shine the light
Forever in my heart, you’re forever in my life
All I want as close to you there’s something going on in my heart

This time it was really right, the way we get together without a doubt
This time it was really right, I believe in our love and it got us high
Like the summer sun so hot, in my heart it feels so right
How can this be wrong? We love…
We give it all we got, we give it all we got

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…
(She gave it all she got) Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
(I gotta let you go) Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
(I love you forever and ever)

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…
(You’re forever in my life) Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
(Hey! Hey! Hey!) Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh…Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
