This week the spotlight is on “Wildflower,” the 1973 hit by David Foster’s early band, Skylark. That sumptuous ballad was the Hitman’s first bite of success on Billboard’s Hot 100.

“Wildflower” was co-written by Skylark’s guitarist, the late, Doug Edwards who passed away just a few days ago, with David Richardson, a friend of Foster’s who wrote a poem that married to Edwards’ inspired music and eventually became the lyrics of that evergreen.

“Senza Fine” is one of the most important evergreens in the history of Italian popular music. Written by legendary singer/songwriter Gino Paoli, this astonishing composition was covered by a who’s who of international music stars including Ornella Vanoni who sang the original version in 1961, Dean Martin, Connie Francis, Boz Scaggs, Monica Mancini, Mike Patton of Faith No More, Claudio Baglioni and jazz legend Wes Montgomery. “Senza Fine” is also one of the classic love songs selected by Andrea Bocelli and David Foster for the singer’s 2013 cd Passione and is included in the Deluxe Edition of that gold-certified hit.
