LOVE LOVE AGAIN

From INTIMATE
Written by David Foster, Bruce Roberts & Junior Miles

William “Smokey” Robinson, Jr. is one of Motown’s leading figures and a true legend in the history of R&B and soul music. In the course of his long career, Robinson has amassed an impressive number of hits as a member of The Miracles, a solo artist and a songwriter/producer for other artists. He composed evergreens like “The Tracks Of My Tears,” “My Girl,” “Ain’t It Peculiar” and “Since I Lost My Baby,” all performed by The Miracles and other giant stars including The Temptations and Marvin Gaye. Bob Dylan once acclaimed he is “America’s greatest living poet.”
During his solo career he continued pumping out hits like “Cruisin’,” “Just To See Her” and the #1 “Being With You.” In 1988 he took his rightful place beside other great artists in The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
At the end of the nineties, Robinson released a new cd entitled “Intimate.” This album was another chance for the fans to enjoy his velvety falsetto and listen to his new compositions. One fault with this collection is the predictable musical background and uninteresting programmed drums and synths.
David Foster was asked to collaborate on “Intimate” and he did a good job co-penning the smooth ballad “Love Love Again” with hit songwriter Bruce Roberts and music industry mogul Edgar Bronfman, Jr., aka Junior Miles. The song is one of the peaks of the record and Foster’s state of the art production and clever arrangement give Smokey Robinson a comfortable place to perform his impeccable vocals.
Other standout tracks on “Intimate” include the opener, “Sleepin’ In,” that reverberates the best radio-friendly smooth jazz and the ballad, “Easy To Love,” both written by the singer and performed with impeccable class and style.
