MY HEART WAS HOME AGAIN

from WITH YOU
written by Marc Jordan & Stephen Moccio

The beginning of 2007 saw the release of a special Valentine’s Day project by international recording star Josh Groban. This eight track compilation CD was titled “With You” and was sold exclusively at the Hallmark store chain. “With You” included previously released material personally selected by the baritone superstar like “You’re Still You,” “Broken Vow,” “When You Say You Love Me” and “Per Te.” This romantic tour-de-force also presented a couple of beautiful, unreleased songs – the title track and “My Heart Was Home Again.”

CLOSET MAN

from LIVING WITHOUT YOUR LOVE
written by David Foster, Donny Gerrard & Eric Mercury

Dusty Springfield was a pop/soul singer from the UK who enjoyed terrific success in the late fifties up to the nineties. Exceptionally gifted with a soulful, husky voice, Ms. Springfield brought timeless songs to the charts including “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me,” “The Look Of Love,” “Son Of A Preacher Man, “The Windmills Of Your Mind” and “Wishin’ And Hopin’.” “What Have I Done To Deserve This?” was her 1987 collaboration with popular UK duo Pet Shop Boys and together they reached #2 on both the UK and the US Pop charts. Ms. Springfield prematurely died in 1999 and was rightly inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame later that year.

IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR

from  I CAN’T STAND THE RAIN/IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR (single)
written by Steve Cropper & Wilson Pickett, Jr.

Produced by David Foster and co-produced by Jochem van der Saag, Seal’s 2008 “Soul” was a collection of contemporized covers of r&b classics and became a top seller in several countries worldwide. “Soul” was eventually certified gold in the US, platinum in the UK and diamond in France. The album was introduced to international audiences by the popular cover of Sam Cooke’s hit, “A Change Is Gonna Come” that ignited great interest in this new release. In the months that followed, several other singles from that cd made their appearances in the music charts of many different countries.

IF THAT’S THE WAY YOU WANT IT

from SKYLARK 2
written by Dennis Lambert & Brian Potter

In 1972, the Canadian pop/rock group Skylark introduced David Foster’s talents to the world. After the massive success of their 1973 hit “Wildflower,” Skylark went back into the studio to work on their sophomore release. Produced again by Eirik Wangberg, the new recording saw the group down to only three members – Foster, his then-wife Bonnie Jean (B.J.) Cook and singer Donny Gerrard. “Skylark 2” was released in 1974 and oddly enough, the new album again included their “Wildflower” hit ballad, maybe to cash in some more on its huge potential. “Skylark 2” was a good soft/rock collection with touches of soul, country and Latin rock.
