November 1997 saw the release of Celine Dion’s album, “Let’s Talk About Love.” That record became the pinnacle of the Canadian superstar’s career selling over ten million copies in the United States and over thirty-one millions worldwide.
“Let’s Talk About Love” includes Dion’s trademark song, “My Heart Will Go On,” the now-classic theme from the blockbuster movie, “Titanic.” This piece was written by James Horner and produced by Horner with Walter Afanasieff and eventually scored several Grammys and an Academy Award. “Let’s Talk About Love” presents an impressive list of guests and collaborators like Sir George Martin and Carole King who worked on the track, “The Reason,” The Bee Gees who wrote and sang the track “Immortality,” the late Luciano Pavarotti who duet with Dion on the Italian evergreen,“I Hate You Then I Love You” and Bryan Adams who co-wrote the title-track. Another legendary name appearing on the album is Barbra Streisand who duet with Dion on “Tell Him.” This gorgeous ballad was co-written and co-produced by David Foster and Afanasieff with lyrics by Foster’s ex wife, Linda Thompson. Foster produced several other songs on the album including the title-track, the duet with Pavarotti and a cover of the Leo Sayer classic, “When I Need You.” There’s also a smooth ballad entitled “Why Oh Why,” another Foster production, that’s our favorite moment on the album with its delicious R&B feel and refined groove. Dion’s vocals are stunning here and throughout the album.
