Angelica Di Castro is a talented Italian/Canadian singer who sings fluently in both Italian and English. Her first album, “Bittersweet,” was released in 2006 and was followed in 2008 with “Beautiful Feeling” that included the songs of “Bittersweet” plus some new material.
Stylistically the songs are in the Adult Contemporary vein with some Latin and light rock moments. They were both good vehicles to present audiences Di Castro’s utterly pleasant voice. The singer obviously follows the footsteps of other Canadian icons like Lara Fabian and Céline Dion. A point of contact with those superstars comes from her interpretation of a David Foster original entitled “I Can’t Forget.” This unreleased song, co-written by the Canadian super-producer with Madonna, comes from the 1994 “Something To Remember” sessions that gave birth to Madonna’s hit single “You’ll See.” Floating around the net is the original demo by Madonna that’s a tad slower compared to Di Castro’s Latin tinged, upbeat version. Although “I Can’t Forget” is a nice pop song for Di Castro, we are left wondering how it would have sounded sung by Madonna after the full Foster production treatment.
