SAD RAIN

The Miracles is one of the most successful vocal groups in the history of soul music. In the early seventies the group suffered the departure of the legendary Smokey Robinson who went solo. A new lead singer, Billy Griffin, was added to the line-up as The Miracles kept touring and releasing new albums that spawned more hits like their 1976 # 1 “Love Machine (Part 1).” In 1977 the group left Motown and signed a new deal with Columbia Records.

In 1983, after the huge success of their previous album, “The Completion Backward Principle,” The Tubes released “Outside Inside,” another catchy offering again with David Foster at the helm. Foster, who was responsible for making the band’s sound more suitable for rock and pop radios, brought in many of his friends from Toto plus other session greats like Nathan East and, Freddy Washington to help raise the level of  musical sophistication in the Tubes sound.

TV actor Alan Thicke became famous in the late seventies starring in the popular sit-com “Growing Pains.” In the early eighties, Thicke had his own successful Canadian TV show aptly titled “The Alan Thicke Show” followed in 1983 by “Thicke Of The Night” on American late night television. David Foster and Jay Graydon, both old friends of Thicke’s, co-wrote the theme song for “Thicke Of The Night.”

Accompanying Streisand on this record was the usual A-List of music-makers, songwriters and musicians.

David Foster has recently submitted a new song entitled “One World One Dream” to be considered as the theme of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games. He is also rumored to be the writer of the theme of the forthcoming Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. In the past, Foster was often involved with these types of special events. In 1988, he composed, “Winter Games,” the official theme for Calgary’s Winter Olympics.
