“To Love You More” is one of those Céliné Dion/David Foster signature songs that helped shaping the adult contemporary sound of the nineties. It was recorded in 1995 for the popular Japanese TV series, Koibito Yo (meaning My Dear Lover), and eventually released as a single in Japan. It immediately became a smash, selling more than 1.2 million copies, and became the best selling single ever by an international female artist in Japan. “To Love You More” was later included in the US release of Ms. Dion’s album “Let’s Talk About Love” and on the Canadian version of “Live á Paris.” It was also issued as a single in North America and became a hit on the Adult Contemporary charts.
Foster’s classically inspired arrangement beautifully serves Celine’s vocal performance that develops from a restrained intro to the fireworks of her stunning finale. Another key element of “To Love You More” is the elegant performance of the Japanese crossover trio, Kryzler & Company. Their amazing strings put the song in a different dimension. A Kryzler & Company member, violinist Taro Hakase, also released an instrumental cover of the song that enhanced the classical quality of this composition even more.
Foster co-wrote “To Love You More” with mogul Edgar Bronfman, Jr. who picked the alias Junior Miles for his activity as a songwriter. Soon after they came up with another famous song for Ms. Dion entitled “Be The Man,” also written for a Japanese series.
