MILLE LUNE MILLE ONDE

From CIELI DI TOSCANA
Written by Lyrics: Lucio Quarantotto & Claudio Corradini – Music: Francesco Sartori & David Foster

“The Prayer” was the first collaboration between David Foster and Italian superstar Andrea Bocelli. Written by Foster with Carol Bayer Sager, it was originally sung as a solo in Italian by Bocelli and in English by Céliné Dion for the soundtrack of the 1999 animated movie “Quest for Camelot.” Later, both artists would release it as a duet on personal albums. The beautiful melody and haunting lyrics have made the song an international standard. “The Prayer” would go on to win Best Original Song at the 1999 Golden Globes and was nominated for both a 1999 Academy Award (Best Original Song) and a 2000 Grammy (Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals). In the fall of 2001, Bocelli released his new album, “Cieli Di Toscana,” a delicious pop collection that topped charts worldwide. For this project, Foster collaborated with Lucio Quarantotto and Francesco Sartori, the writers of Bocelli’s signature song, “Con Te Partirò” aka “Time To Say Goodbye.” The results were two beautiful, evocative songs, “Chiara” and “Mille Lune Mille Onde.” Both songs are perfect vehicles for Bocelli’s gorgeous voice. The haunting melody of “Mille Lune Mille Onde” would later be used for a well-known Italian TV commercial. These outstanding efforts would perpetuate more high profile projects including the 2005 multi-platinum, Foster-produced smash, “Amore,” and the first Bocelli “best of” cd, “Vivere.” The latter includes all of the singer’s hits as well as several new songs overseen by the Canadian music maker. Foster was also behind organizing Bocelli’s special musical events, “Under The Desert Sky” and “Vivere Live In Tuscany.” Both shows were made into DVD releases with strong international success.

Lyrics

Tu mia onda scendi dentro me
Stringimi che ormai io sono il mare
Questo brivido ti sciogliera’

Parlami, abbracciami, scivola, azzurra luna

Foglie e il viento ci porta, siamo ali verso il blu
Stringimi e lasciate andare, il mio viento ora sei tu

Legami con i capelli il cuore
Tu mia onda scendi dentro me
