From BEVERLY HILLS 90210: THE SOUNDTRACK

In the early nineties, “Beverly Hills 90210” was the #1 television series. It quickly became a huge marketing triumph and worldwide phenomenon. In 1992, during its third season, the series’ producers decided to release a soundtrack album that included music from the show. “Beverly Hills 90210: The Soundtrack” was a nice pop collection filled with stuff that would attract the same audience that was watching the show week after week. The bulk of the album is made of light, danceable tunes performed by Paula Abdul, Color Me Badd and Jeremy Jordan. There are also two great adult contemporary ballads; “Time To Be Lovers” performed by Mike McDonald and Chaka Khan plus “Love Is” performed by Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight.
Another winner on the album is “Saving Forever For You,” beautifully sung by Shanice. This dreamy ballad was written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster. It perfectly mixes Shanice’s appeal among the young audiences with Foster’s golden touch for mainstream radio. It’s no wonder this lovely ballad became a #4 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 and a top twenty on the R&B charts. Foster’s production is the usual state of the art affair with great attention to the singer’s five-octave voice that shines on this one. “Saving Forever For You” was also certified gold and, together with “I Love Your Smile,” is probably the most memorable song of Shanice’s career.
