DON’T SAY YOU LOVE ME

From TALK ON CORNERS
Written by The Corrs & Carole Bayer Sager

The Corrs are another important jewel on Foster’s crown. They asked for an audition with the canadian music maker back in 1994, while the 14 times Grammy winner was in NY busy producing Michael Jackson. Foster agreed to listen to them and sure he was quite impressed if he immediately signed them to his 143 label and produced their debut cd, “Forgiven Not Forgotten”. From that record on it’s been a triumph for this irish group, three sisters and one brother, all great talents, they have quickly become one of the bigger selling artists in the world.

“Don’t Say You Love Me” is picked from their second album, “Talk On Corners”, released in 1997, always produced by Foster with some help from other big names like Glen Ballard and Rick Nowels & Billy Steinberg. This cd really boosted the group’s popularity, selling several millions around the globe. Many big hits were released from it, like “Only When I Sleep” and “I Never Loved You Anyway”. “Don’t Say You Love Me” is the track that mixes best The Corrs’ harmonies and sounds with David Foster’s quality pop tradition . The group co-wrote the song with Carole Bayer Sager which gives the song some classic pop echoes, also with Andrea Corr sounding a tiny bit like Karen Carpenter.

Foster have collaborated with The Corrs on several other occasions, asking Andrea to sing on the “Quest Of Camelot” soundtrack and the whole group to duet with Josh Groban for “Canto Alla Vita” on his debut cd.

Lyrics

I’ve seen this place a thousand times
I’ve felt this all before
And every time you call
I’ve waited there as though you might not call at all

I know this face I’m wearing now
I’ve seen this in my eyes
And though it feels so great, I’m still afraid
That you’ll be leaving anytime

We’ve done this once and then you closed the door
Don’t let me fall again for nothing more

Don’t say you love me unless forever
Don’t tell me you need me, if you’re not gonna stay
Don’t give me this feeling, I’ll only believe it
Make it real or take it all away

I’ve caught myself smiling alone
Just thinking of your voice
And dreaming of your touch, is all too much
You know I don’t have any choice

Don’t say you love me unless forever
Don’t tell me you need me, if you’re not gonna stay
Don’t give me this feeling, I’ll only believe it
Make it real or take it all away…
Yeah, yeah yeah

We’ve done this once and then you closed the door
Don’t let me fall again for nothing more

Don’t say you love me unless forever
Don’t tell me you need me, if you’re not gonna stay
Don’t give me this feeling, I’ll only believe it
Make it real or take it all away

(Say you love me…)
Don’t tell me you need me, if you’re not gonna stay
Don’t give me this feeling, I’ll only believe it
Make it real, (make it real,) or take it all away
Take it all away, take it all away…

[Fade out]
