FOR THE LOVE OF YOU

From JORDAN HILL
Written by Evan Rogers & Carl Sturken

Sometimes the music market works with mysterious ways and this CD sure is one good proof. Jordan Hill is without a doubt as talented as Christina and a lot better than Britney but when her debut CD was released in 1996, produced by David Foster, it didn’t take the charts by a storm. It isn’t easy to understand the reasons why cause it has first class production by Foster and other big guns like Soulshock & Karlin and Rhett Lawrence and great songs by Foster, Rogers & Sturken, Jeff Pescetto, Allan Rich & Jud Friedman, Brian McKnight among others. The cd also sports a duet with then hot singer Delious of All 4 One and also two very good covers of the Bee Gees’ “Too Much Heaven” with Barry Gibb guesting on vocals and Foster’s own “Got To Be Real”.

It remains to be said that Hill was just 18 when the record came out but she sounds very mature and her voice is very rich and impressive. She first broke into the charts in 1995 with “Remember Me This Way” from the movie Casper , while “For The Love Of You” was released as the first single off the cd and it reached # 66 on Billboard’s Hot 100. It is a very sweet, pop/dance number that should have been a top ten hit and start a successful career for Hill. We picked this tune to remind the world of her talent and also suggest all the Foster fans to go and find a copy of this cd, cause there’s plenty of good music to listen to.

One last thing to point out is that Regina Belle and Aretha Franklin sang two songs from this record, “Never Should Have Let You Go” and “How Many Times” respectively, both Foster originals and it sure is another proof of the very good quality of this underrated work.

Lyrics

Tell me what can I say
Baby what can I do just to get through to you
My head is spinning around feelings turning to blue
Baby don’t you know it’s true

I walk each day down the street where you live
I’ve waited for the right time, somethin’s gotta give
I’d try to say it but the words come out wrong
So listen while I sing you this song

Here is my heart, here is my soul
Take what you want, baby don’t ever let go
‘Cause every little thing that I do
I do it for the love of, do it for the love of you

Every time that you hurt
You know I’m feelin’ it too, baby don’t you know it’s right
‘Cause every day that I live
I dedicate it to you, each and every night

I tried to play it time after time
But the kind of rush you give me
I could never hide
So listen to these words that I say
Won’t let you go, no how, no way

Here is my heart, here is my soul
Take what you want, baby don’t ever let go
‘Cause every little thing that I do
I do it for the love of, do it for the love of you

I walk each day down the street where you live
I’ve waited for the right time, somethin’s gotta give
I’d try to say it but the words come out wrong
So listen while I sing you this song

Here is my heart, here is my soul
Take what you want, baby don’t ever let go
‘Cause every little thing that I do
I do it for the love of, do it for the love of you
