From DAYDREAM COAST
Written by David Bryant & Tony Hanes

Among the many projects that David Foster has made specifically for the Japanese market, there are some very good ones and we’ll showcase them here for you. Through the years Foster has collaborated with famous singers like Seiko Matsuda, Mariya Takeuchi, Hiromi Iwasaki, Ami Ozaki and Naoko Kawai. Naoko’s song “Live Inside Your Love” is our first pick. It was included on her “Daydream Coast” album that she released in 1984, it’s an album filled with good pop songs (mostly sung in Japanese), it includes the cream of the LA session aces like John Robinson, Jeff Porcaro, Mike Landau, Jerry Hey, Nathan East, Randy Kerber and Foster who plays and arranges with his usual class and good taste. Two of the highlights of this cd are the special duets with Peter Cetera (former lead singer with Chicago) on the song “Love Assistant “ that sounds a little bit like Hall & Oates’ “Meneater”, and with Da Man himself giving his best vocal performance ever (in our opinion) on “Live Inside Your Love”.

The track has a soft, laid back brazilian feel to it and sounds refreshing with some lush strings and Foster’s rhodes underlying his own vocals. Naoko and Foster teamed up again in 1985 on her “9 ½” cd, when he produced another duet, “Finding Each Other”, this time with Toto’s Steve Lukather sharing the lead vocals with Naoko.

Lyrics

Japanese lyrics

I still remember dreams haven’t
Slipped away somewhere in time, somewhere in time

Should love surrender
Don’t let the essence
Of your heart decline from mine
I want your love

*refrain
I wanna live, I wanna live, I wanna live,
I wanna live inside your love
I wanna love, I wanna love
I wanna love you (come share your love)

The world can do no harm
I’ll be safe and warm inside your love

Japanese lyrics

I’ve been granted strength
Cause I’m on the same wavelength
As you are

Japanese lyrics

Feelings that I’ve treasure
Won’t be discouraged by the mood
You had behind
I want your love

* refrain
I wanna live, I wanna live, I wanna live,
I wanna live inside your love
I wanna love, I wanna love
I wanna love you (come share your love)
I wanna live, I wanna live, I wanna live,
I wanna live inside your love

The world can do no harm
I’ll be safe and warm inside your love

* refrain
I want your love
I wanna live, I wanna live, I wanna live,
I wanna live inside your love
I wanna love, I wanna love
I wanna love you (come share your love)
I wanna live, I wanna live, I wanna live,
I wanna live inside your love

The world can do no harm
I’ll be safe and warm inside your love
